Tong Yu
Counselling and Psychotherapy
About Me.
I am a wellbeing counselor and psychotherapist, offering counseling sessions in Chinese, Japanese and English, here in Aarhus C.
I hold my Masters in Clinical Psychology and Community Studies at Kyushu University, in Japan. Here I actively participated in research projects focusing on reducing the stress levels in adolescents, and providing individual and group therapy to adults and adolescents under mentorship and in close collaboration with various health professionals in a team-based setting. Additionally, I have pursued further self-education in various therapeutic methods, including mindfulness training, compassion focused therapy and acceptance and commitment Therapy (ACT). In my practice, I work with individuals to develop ways that work for you. That could mean a different type of psychotherapeutic approach for different issues you bring.
The foundation of my therapeutic method is Client-focused, based on empathy, genuineness and unconditional positive regard. I believe every client has the inner strength beneath the heart and it needs to be discovered, nourished by a professional guide. In my sessions, we will work together to figure out what is the main point that causes the problems, bring awareness to the patterns that no longer serve you and talk about what would make your life better based on your own values.
TYPICAL ISSUES I'VE WORKED WITH
I provide individual counseling to adults with problems related to anxiety, depression, stress, panic attacks, relationship difficulties, family related issues, low self esteem, emotional problems, vital transitions, culture adjustment issues, identity. I also support foreigners about adjusting the new culture, so feel free to contact me if you have similar concerns.
